Brandon Pierce
President, CEO

Founder, President and CEO of Stratus Security Management, Inc. with over a decade of experience at the most senior levels of private and local law enforcement, Brandon has an exceptionally strategic perspective on security planning and management, investigative and protective operations, emergency preparedness, crisis management and disaster response. Law enforcement, security and business acumen are the fundamental components of his career and these diverse credentials are foundational to his unique and strategic approach to security management. As the founder of Stratus Security Management, Inc., Brandon helps organizations design, manage, and improve security management capabilities. Brandon is a leading expert in executive protection, security planning and operations at stadiums, convention centers and major entertainment venues. Brandon is a team member of The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program that educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. In addition to being a CERT team member for Homeland Security, Brandon is a Certified Executive Protection Specialist. Brandon has strong relationships with consulting firms and security products companies, as well as with security analysts and the law enforcement community.


Delois Orr
Senior VP of Operations

With over 28 years experience in the Detroit Police Department with assignments in homicide, the Fatal Squad Unit and Accident Investigations, Delois Orr is Stratus Security Management Inc.’s Senior Vice President in Charge of Operations and is responsible for a staff of 90-120 Security personnel. This includes keeping staffing at proper levels, including interviewing and new hire paperwork, and maintaining professionally trained security officers. Delois is responsible for ongoing training classes and for the monitoring of productivity and the daily scheduling and dispatching of security personnel. Delois is also responsible for administration, management, and functions, and operates as the direct supervisor for security personnel and supervisors. Delois manages multiple departments through senior administrators to ensure completion of performance mission and objectives in compliance with multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets. Delois also advises the Stratus Security Management, President and CEO on matters pertaining to current law enforcement and public safety issues.


James R. Barren, PhD, LPC, LLP
VP, Training and Special Response

James Barren started his career with the Detroit Police Department in 1973. He was promoted to  sergeant in 1985 and Lieutenant in 1994. In this capacity, he managed the total operations of the Special Response Team. In 1999, he was promoted to the rank of Inspector, commanding the police department’s Special Response Tech Section. In 1999, he was promoted to the rank of Commander, with responsibilities of managing the operations of the police department’s Mobile Strike Force, Critical Incident Response Units, including SWAT, Tactical Services Section, Aviation Unit, Mobile Support Section, Fatal Squad Unit, and Mounted Unit. James was promoted to Deputy Chief, in 2003 and was also employed as an Adjunct Professor at Wayne Statue University. He retired after 31 years from the Detroit Police Department in 2004, with numerous commendations and awards including two Medals of Valor. In February of 2005, he was recalled to active service with the US Army for Operation Iraqi Freedom. In August of 2004, he joined Securitas Security Services, USA, Inc. as an Executive Protection Specialist. In this capacity, he provided Executive Security protection for General Motors Executives. James Barren holds a PhD in Psychology from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, and is a licensed Psychologist and Counselor in the State of Michigan. This professional training and experience allows for Dr. Barren to perform critical incident interventions for shootings, dangerous or serious crime situations, traumatic incidents, hostage situations, etc. Dr. Barren is also a published mental health professional. Dr. Barren routinely presents at various security conferences, professional Counseling Association  seminars and security training seminars. Dr. Barren is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensed Helicopter Pilot.


Charles A. Richey
VP, Training and Special Response

Charles has significant operational experience with the design, implementation and executive review of business continuity, crisis management, and disaster recovery plans. He served in the U.S. Army Military Police from 1979 – 1986. He then joined the U.S. Department of Justice - Bureau of Prison from 1986 -1989. He later joined the Detroit Police Department in April, 1989 working as patrol, plain clothes investigation, detective-sergeant, helicopter pilot, flight instructor and Senior Flight Officer. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in June of 2006 and has since worked on various assignments including Office of Operations, Tactical Mobile Section Officer in Charge, and Training Division, Executive Protection. Sergeant Richey holds a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Pilot License and holds a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Flight Instructor rating for Helicopter/Airplane.


George H. Chester
Special Training Instructor

George Chester is currently assigned to the Special Response Team Section of the Detroit Police Department as an Entry Team Member and Assistant Team Leader. George served in the U.S. Army Military Police from 1989 – 1996 as an Investigator; later serving on the Special Reaction Team. He was then assigned to the General Crimes Section as an Investigator from 1992-1993, and later the Juvenile, Gang and Surveillance Section from 1993 – 1996. George has executed over 300 high risk search warrants, over 100 armed barricaded gunperson situations, and served on the executive protection details for political dignitaries ranging from President Bill Clinton, President George W. Bush, to the Mayor of the City of Detroit. He has also performed executive protection details for entertainers such as Bill Cosby to Sean “P. Diddy” Combs. In the arena of tactical-critical incident resolutions, Mr. Chester has trained federal, state, local and military agencies. George has completed specialized training in some of the following: Advanced Burglary & Terrorist Trends Investigations, Child Abuse Investigation Interview & Interrogations Technique Course, Anti Terrorism: Weapons of Mass Destruction: LSU, Counter Sniper Course, Hostage Negotiations (Instructor), Tactical Shotgun Course (Instructor)


Randall M. Hampton
Special Training Instructor

A Detroit Police Officer since 1987, Randall rose through the ranks starting as a patrol officer then on to the Armed Robbery Task Force, Narcotic Surveillance Unit, Executive Protection Officer, Mayor’s Detail, Promoted to the Rank of Lieutenant, to his current position as Commanding Officer Special Response Team. Randall’s responsibilities have included coordinating critical incident training for personnel assigned within the division, writing operations orders for multi-police agencies, and multi-jurisdictional Task Forces, and coordinated the Incident Command System at Barricaded Gunman and Critical Incident Scenes. In addition, responding to all barricaded gunman & critical incident scenes. In his current position as Western Operations Bureau Staff Sergeant, Randall coordinates Critical Incident Training throughout the Western Operations Bureau, monitoring current budgeted positions for each Precinct, coordinate Mobile Field Force assignments and training; and ensuring Mobile Strike Forces are ready for deployment upon mobilization. Randall is a member of the Detroit Police Lieutenant and Sergeants Association, Fraternal Order of Police, National Tactical Officers Association, Detroit Local Emergency Planning Committee and holds certifications in: Response Team Training (MLEOTC), Special Response Team Tactical Pistol Course, Tactical in Service Training, Rappel Master Certification, Detroit Police Department Hostage Negotiations, Tactical Submachine Gun course, National Tactical Officers Assoc., Tactical Operations Course, Royal Arms International, Interior Door Breaching Course, Detroit Police Department Executive Protection I, Counter-Terrorist and Anti-Terrorist Specialist, Tactical Aircraft Assault Training. Randall also holds a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Rotorcraft Pilots License.
